Flash Player slow on MacOS X, iBook G4

I'm still using iBook G4 1,33 GHz PPC, 768 MB RAM, with MacOS X 10.4.11. Recently, I have a trouble with the newly updated Flash Player version 10. The new flash player consume a lot of cpu resources. The most significant turnoff is when I open video website such as YouTube, Metacafe, or any other website that plays flv video.

Some steps I tried was:

1. Uninstall Flash Player: http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14157
2. Re-install the flash player using specific PPC version: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/
This attempts still fails, it still performs very slow.

so, I tried other alternatives:
1. Uninstall it again.
2. Downgrade to version 9: http://www.adobe.com/go/kb406791
The downgrade seems to work. The performance of the flash player is better than the latest version.

So, if you face the similar problem with "old" computers, you might want to try to downgrade the flash player.
Older version of Flash Player are still available on Adobe's website here: http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14266

Hi, After reading your post, I did a little test about the latest version flash player 10 on my iBook G4(1.42GHz with 10.4.11, similar with yours).

I found that after the movie cache download is finished, using FULL SCREEN MODE to play it. That will make playback performance much much better.

By the way, you can use an app called MacTubes, which can download clips on youtube

Anyway These are only some little suggestions :)

Thanks..
I don't want to risk myself upgrading to safari 4 as it will my iBook slower.

I love this iBook, I wish Apple could make another 12 inch notebook again.

Interesting work there. I think this would really be a good idea if I share it with others.

I have never really got the chance to compare their performance, but I have heard the same information from friends.
